The Villa
Introduction
Villa Amaltheia stands in an impressive private plot of well over an acre, hidden in the lovely Cretan countryside in an enviable spot on the edge of the traditional village of Xirosterni. It is totally private and secluded. The views are uninterrupted by other villas, which is very unusual and one of the things that makes Villa Amaltheia so special. The villa has glorious panoramic sea and mountain views which can be enjoyed from all of its terraces and balconies. Villa Amaltheia has been very thoughtfully planned, equipped and furnished to provide the discerning holidaymaker with truly luxurious accommodation.
The living areas and kitchen are located to one side of the villa which is single storey and the bedrooms are in the other, split level side of the villa, part of which is two-storey.
The villa is centrally heated and has the option of a heated pool so is a good choice for early or late season holidays if you prefer to avoid the heat of the summer season.
Entrance & Patio
The entrance has been massively improved for 2021, with electric gates added and new walls and railngs built on the approach to the villa. This gives the villa a feeling of added exclusivity and privacy.
Once around the pool there are plenty of areas to sit and relax with a drink, or to sunbathe on the terrace. The poolside astroturf sunbathing area and seating terrace were exteded to twice the size in 2017, with plenty of options for sitting and relaxing.
Ground Floor - Living Area
The kitchen is modern with a full range of appliances and is fully equipped to enable you to easily cater for yourself. The dining area with a marble topped table and six chairs links the kitchen to the lounge which has recently been refurbished and redecorated in a contemporary style, with two three-seater cream leather sofas with comfy coloured cushions, acryllic prints of local Cretan scenes and landscapes, and modern ornaments.
Full entertainment facilities are provided including a DVD/CD player. We have also provided two new chargeable portable stereo bluetooth speakers for use around the villa and pool area. The TV is a new 42" flat screen smart TV. A wide range of CD’s, books, DVD’s and games are provided for guests' use. Patio doors from the lounge open up onto the main terrace/BBQ eating area and the pool.
Bedrooms
The master bedroom, with a king size bed, is at a halfway landing between the ground and first floors and was extended in 2017 to include a dressing room area. The master en-suite has also been fully refurbished and extended and contains a shower and a bath. The second bedroom ensuite bathroom has been fully refurbished and extended and now contains a double walk-in shower. The third bedroom also has a full shower ensuite. The master bedroom and dressing area opens up to a new, extended private terrace balcony with amazing panoramic sea views across Souda Bay.
One of the twin rooms is on the ground floor and the other twin room is on the 1st floor, immediately above it. The ground floor twin bedroom has patio doors that open onto the pool terrace. The first floor twin room has a balcony with fabulous sea and mountain views across the bay and White mountains, perfect for watching the stunning sunsets.
All the bedrooms are en-suite and have plenty of drawer storage and hanging space. They are all air-conditioned and also benefit from having ceiling fans and fly screens to the doors and windows.
Each bedroom has recently been redecorated with canvas prints and crystal clear aluminium mounted prints of Cretan and Greek scenes, and contemporary imported wall art.
A separate, larger first floor balcony offers further choice of where to sit in morning or evening with two chairs, a table and parasol to enjoy breakfast with views of the White Mountains or to relax with a glass of wine watching perfect sunsets.
Exterior
The large landscaped gardens contain many different trees and shrubs with a colourful bougainvillaea climbing up the main pergola. The private pool, which has recently been fully refurbished and retiled, is surrounded by extensive terracing which is furnished with sun loungers, parasols and a new Rattan Texas dining table and chairs for al fresco dining. The poolside sunbathing astroturf area and seating terrace have been doubled in size for 2017 and a further Rattan 2 x two seater and coffee table added to provide plenty of options for sunbathing and relaxing. A swing egg chair is also provided on the sunbathing area, giving that extra bit of luxuriuos comfort. There are two chairs nestling under a large tree in a secluded part of the garden. A BBQ is provided for your use.
New for 2021 we have added a games room with full size table football and air hockey tables to go with the full size outdoor table tennis table availabe for guests to use! The games room makes this the perfect villa for your family holiday, with a guarantee that the kids (and grown ups!) will never be bored!
The villa is very peacefully located in a lovely secluded setting. You can relax in absolute tranquility, the only sounds being of distant sheep bells or the cicadas. Dusk is a lovely time at the villa, where you can sip a glass of wine watching the sun go down over Souda Bay with The White Mountains to one side, the sparkling lights of the Akrotiri peninsula on the other and a million stars overhead; an experience never to be forgotten.
Internet Access
For 2021 we have installed a new, improved satellite internet system that provides free unlimited downloads at a speed of up to 50Mbps, and an upload speed of 3Mbps. Boosters have been added so that the signal is strong in each bedroom and all around the pool and sunbathing terrace.
